Flora Farms amazing wedding weekend. Alexa and Jared

This beautiful Cabo destination wedding of Alexa and Jared took place at Flora Farms.

Flora Farms is the ideal wedding venue for those who appreciate fresh and seasonal ingredients as well as locally-inspired products. It is also perfect for celebrating life's milestones and special occasions. I photographed Alexa and Jared engagement photos

With 150 guests in attendance, the couple exchanged vows under the traditional Chuppah, surrounded by the lush greenery of the farm. The traditional Jewish ceremony was filled with emotion and love, and it was a privilege to capture every moment. The venue's versatility and private outdoor spaces help determine the best area for hosting events.

After dinner, and speeches, it was time to get the party started. There was no way this was not going to be an awesome party with this amazing group of friends and family. I love people that know how to have fun!!

Big congratulations to Alexa and Jared. Thanks for having me as your Cabo wedding photographer!!

At Flora Farms in San Jose del Cabo they grow all of the food they serve on site. They even have their own Ranch, where they raise chickens, goats, pigs and rabbits, as well as eggs and cows for their house-made cheeses. When you host your wedding at Flora Farms, you and your guests will enjoy a unique, fresh, seasonal and organic menu. The event menus are crafted using the field offerings from Flora's Field Kitchen, creating a fresh and unique connection to the natural surroundings.

The reception that followed was nothing short of extraordinary. Guests danced the night away under the stars, and the bride and groom shared a romantic dance that was truly unforgettable. From the beautiful florals and decor to the delicious food, every detail was thoughtfully planned and executed to perfection. The farm bar offered a variety of fresh, locally sourced cocktails and beverages made with ingredients from the farm. The couple’s love for each other was evident in every moment, and it was clear that their families and friends were overjoyed to celebrate with them.

As a wedding photographer, I always strive to capture the essence of each couple’s love story. This couple’s journey from their elopement at Hilton to their stunning Jewish wedding at Flora Farms was truly unique, and I was honored to be a part of it. The love and joy that they shared with their family and friends was contagious, and I know that these memories will be cherished for a lifetime.

The couple’s love for each other was evident in every moment, and it was clear that their families and friends were overjoyed to celebrate with them. The significance of additional events during their amazing weekend, such as welcome parties and farewell brunches, added to the overall experience.

Q1: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?

Cabo is such a special place to our families as we have been vacationing there for over 15 years. We knew we wanted to bring all of our friends and family to our favorite place to celebrate such a joyous occasion all together! For our wedding, we envisioned an enchanted magical garden that was definitely brought to life with modern touches – it truly was the most beautiful setting we could have imagined!

Q2: Let´s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?

The setting at Flora Farms is one of a kind in itself – we wanted to embrace the beauty of the space with an enchanted magical garden vibe while bringing modern touches to life. We incorporated white florals with greenery throughout the space with black iron candlesticks and lanterns to enhance the twinkling lights and magical setting.

Q3: What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

The florals were a mix of white flowers with touches of greenery. We had small ceramic bud vases on the tables to add tasteful touches of elegance and had larger floral arrangements on other tables to balance it out. We included white florals around the arch of the barn which served as a beautiful entry way to the bar area. Bridesmaids had small minimalistic bouquets to mirror the floral designs throughout the reception. Groomsmen also had a white floral boutonniere to coordinate with the bridesmaids and overall setting.

Q4: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

We created a one of a kind chuppah with a black iron frame, incorporating white florals, greenery and pampas grass at the base to add a natural touch to truly enhance the setting. We also had an energized entrance into the reception and had sparklers go off during our first dance. We loved changing into our second outfits to continue the fun and dancing all night long!

Q5: Let´s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

We wanted our outfits to fit perfectly into the setting and give a whimsical vibe. The dress was stunning with light fabric and boning at the top – I added a headband to my look as the final touch. For the groom, a blue linen suite was always what he envisioned and he looked so handsome – it had personalized monogram touches on the jacket to make it extra special. We also changed mid-way through the reception to keep the dancing going all night long – the bride changed into a white fringe dress and the groom had a short sleeve white linen button down and sneakers.

Q6: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

We met while studying abroad in Prague our junior year of college. We both moved to New York after graduation and have been together for seven years! The proposal was in the coveted Gramercy Park in New York City, where my husband went above and beyond to secure a key to this private park to make for the most perfect proposal and beautiful scenery. We had a party with our closest friends and family afterwards to keep the celebrations going!

Five Tips for a Smoother Los Cabos Wedding Day

Five Tips for a Smoother Los Cabos Wedding Day

1. Be aware of the weather for your wedding day

2. Make sure to create a timeline with buffer room

3. Use a “A first look”

4. Maintain Your Blood Sugar

5. Get a Good Night’s Sleep

Tips for a smoother Los Cabos wedding day / Gvphotographer. Bride and groom during their ceremony at the beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Five Tips for a Smoother Los Cabos Wedding Day

Being a full-time Los Cabos photographer for more than ten years, I have seen a few wedding days. I’ve seen what makes the day go smoother, and what makes a chaotic wedding day. Here are five suggestions—not just photography related—to make your Los Cabos wedding day go smoother.

1. Be aware of the weather for your wedding day

Expect sunshine 350 days a year in Cabo due to its desert climate and the Californian Gulf breeze. Winter months average in the mid 70's, while summer months can get just above 100 degrees, so pack accordingly and don't forget floppy hats, sunglasses, and sunblock. Evenings do cool off significantly due to less humidity. The best time to visit Cabo is from May to June after the bird migration, but before the hurricane season.

2. Make sure to create a timeline with buffer room.

Remember to include travel time in your timeline. If you are on a big resort (here in Los Cabos area these could be the Riu or Pueblo Bonito, Hyatt Ziva to move from your room or from the spa to another wedding area this could take several minutes.

You should assume that everything will take longer than you think it will. Hair and makeup—you think it should take an hour. That would probably be true in most cases, but on your wedding day, you’ll have your sister, cousin, etc. interrupting asking you questions about the day. I would add at least 15-20 minutes longer than you think it should take, but 30-40 minutes would be safer.

Being rushed is a quick way to start feeling a bit stressed.

Work with your Cabo wedding planner and your photographer to create a timeline with lots of buffer room just in case things get a little behind.

And if things are running a little late, don’t let it worry you one bit. Truly. I’ll also be keeping and eye on things and will give some prompts and nudges here and there to keep things on time.

Having buffer room scheduled in will help keep you at ease since you know you have plenty of time worked in to the schedule to be flexible with however the day goes.

Best times to schedule in a bit of buffer?

  • Add an extra half hour for getting ready. Hair and make up can take a bit longer and putting on your wedding attire sometimes needs a few extra steps. This will ensure you have plenty of time in the first part of the day.

  • 45 mins right before the ceremony. Make sure you are scheduled to wrap up photos at this time. This will also allow you to have one more glass of champagne and a moment to relax before the day’s events.

3. Use a “A first look”

I know there’s the whole superstition about the groom not seeing the bride before the ceremony. And this tip is a little self-serving because first looks are so great from a story-telling perspective. They make great content for wedding albums.

The groom will appreciate a first look. Why? Because he is going to cry when he sees you. Men don’t like to cry in front of an audience, so let him do it in private. Besides, when you see how great the photos turn out, you’ll be glad you did it.

4. Get a Good Night’s Sleep, Take it easy the day before your wedding.

As stated previously, wedding days tend to be long days, especially for the bride. I know you’re going to be anxious and excited the night before your wedding, but try to get a good night’s sleep.

This goes for the groom as well. I don’t know why the tradition got started of the groom having “one last night of freedom.” I’ve seen several grooms who are so tired and hungover they can barely stand during the ceremony. Let me be straight and to the point: That’s not any way to win points with your bride, the new in-laws, or with relatives you haven’t seen in some time.

5. Maintain Hidrated and Your Blood Sugar

Depending on the time of the ceremony, many brides will begin getting ready before lunch but will not eat anything until the reception, several hours away. You will be nervous and anxious during this day, which coupled with a lack of food can cause you to experience low blood sugar.

Avoid this by eating a meal with complex carbohydrates before you begin getting ready. Avoid refined carbs because they will cause a blood sugar spike followed by a sharp drop.

Arrange at least one event (welcome cocktails or rehearsal dinner a boat trip to see the famous Cabo Arch) prior to the big day as a way to thank your guests for making the trip.  It’s also a great opportunity for them to get to know each other

Guys, if you really want to have a night of debauchery, do it a week or two before the wedding. That way, you’re in good condition for the rehearsal, the wedding, and the reception.

An added benefit of this is you’ll look well-rested in the wedding photographs and you’ll have the stamina for the wedding night

I know I said five points but I´m going to include a few more:

  • Have a metting with all your vendors before the wedding

  • Hire professional wedding Planner

  • Practice putting on the Wedding Dress

  • Hire professional local vendors

Cabo Wedding Photography

Doing wedding photography in Los Cabos requires the ability to work quickly and effectively. There are so many locations and expertise in event photography is essential for capturing a wedding. The amazing selection of venues makes a beautiful backdrop for awesome wedding photography. Los Cabos has the distinct ability to offer luxry venues or calm and isolated beaches of the Baja Peninsula of Mexico.

Wedding photography is a passionate art for me, so I try to make each location unique and special. Even at locations I haven't shot at before, I am always looking for new angles and lighting to make my images pop and stand out. There are so many beautiful locations, ranging from the grogeous cliffs in the Pedregal to the many scenic and luxury hotels that dot the shorline, to the organic farms like Flora Farms and Acre, the calm waters from the Sea of Cortez to the west coast of the Baja Peninsula and much more.

VERY IMPORTANT

If you're at the beginning of your search for a wedding venue in Baja Sur, there are some important considerations to keep in mind. Before booking with a hotel, check if you're allowed to bring in your preferred vendors. Often, hotels may charge high fees for external vendors, and even if you opt for their in-house services, it doesn't necessarily mean they're the best, but rather the ones that bring in the highest commissions for the hotel. As a wedding photographer based in Cabo San Lucas, I understand the importance of choosing vendors that align with your vision and budget. Don't hesitate to inquire about vendor policies before finalizing any contracts, as this can significantly impact your wedding planning experience.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email myself at  info@gvphotographer.com and I will be happy to make sure you are making the right decision for your needs.
